Every spring I take the quilts out , put them in a big fish box and stomp them with soap and water.I do it a few times until my feet get unbearably cold. 

Then they are clean.

Following that I hang these very heavy quilts between some very heavy sculpture and apply the final rinse cycle, the garden hose.

The drying  cycles commences after that.
